Every Saturday the Grandstanders are here sharing the love, doing their best to add a little something to your Saturday mornings!
Things get a little personal for Jane today.....she shares with us the highlight of her week, and answers (slightly probing) questions from Craig regarding her romantic history. Was marriage a goal? Was it love at first sight? Were there fireworks?
Double is the key word today. The Grandstanders not only interviews double guests, but also hosts a double segment.....
Anna Segal, an Australian freestyle skier, chats to us about slope-style skiing. What is this extreme sport all about? Get inspired as we hear about how success in the sport is largely 'mind over matter'.
Dr David Darby, a behavioural neurologist, gives us the low-down on concussions. Are you a parent with kids who regularly participate in high impact sports? Find out what you should be aware of in order to best protect them.
Also the two semi-regular segments Jane's Superfood and Jane's Movie Review. What is a Quinoa and what are its benefits? Don't miss Jane's spirited review of 'The Cup'.
For the germaphobes out there, do you know what the three germiest surfaces are? Do bathroom handles and traffic light buttons top the list?
......and finally, is there an answer to the unanswerable question of, 'Do I look big in this?' Is honesty the best policy in all circumstances? What is the most culturally acceptable way of dealing with these questions?

Welcome back to the Grandstanders as they wake up Melbournians from their slumber with a "whopper" of a show - as Craig Harper puts it!
Join Craig and the lovely Jane O'Brien for a mind blowing adventure in the world of sports, health and well-being.
The Grandstanders talk about International rules football, a 100 year old marathon runner, horrible jobs and many more. They also have a chat with special guest Anna Segal (pictured).

Craig has a story for Jane and the listeners. This could be the most encouraging story you would ever hear. Hear how 100 year old Fauja Singh earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest living person to finish a 42km foot race.
The Queen is in town and the Grandstanders talk about the royal visit. What would she be like at a gala dinner? Only Craig and Jane can answer that question. Also they try to find out why Julia Gillard failed to courtesy. Craig has a special attraction to the royal corgis!
Jane talks nutrition - Chia seeds in particular. Hear how the tiny black seeds can help soak up all the toxins that may be in our bodies. Looking for ideas to make your resignation go out with a bang? Take some tips from 23 year old Joey DeFrancesco.
Craig and Jane talk about Ian Thorpe's return to the pool. Also they talk about the International rules football and how the interest in the sport is going down. Jane has an attempt at some news reading. Jane's friend, Mellisa shares a very interesting story. Hear about a 19 fingered robot that can sing, play the piano and also judge if the audience enjoyed its performance. Finally, learn about 'stair climbing' and fashion flops!
Catch the Grandstanders again next Saturday from 8am!

The Grandstanders Podcast - 15 October 2011
'Like it or not, we are here. Like it or not here we are.....to share, enlighten, edify and educate!' That's how Craig introduces the show at least...and it's true! The Grandstanders are back again this week - rain, hail or shine (or in the case of our office in Mitcham, internet or no internet!)
Kicking us off, Jane's over-whelming experience of junior sports coaching. Are the pressures of competition too much for our youngsters? Jane explores (experientially) the best way for coaches and parents to deal with trying games......
Turning the spotlight onto Craig also.....he is having trouble sleeping. When it's time to rest, Craig's body is ready to switch off but his mind is still going at a million miles per hour. Some very practical 'how to sleep well' tips from both Jane and our listener.....find out what 'sleep hygiene' is!
Special guest, Aussie long distance swimmer Melissa Gorman (qualifier for the London Olympics), chats to us about how she 'fell' into the sport. She shares her typical training schedule and what goes on inside her head during her two-hour 10km races. This upbeat interview is sure motivation for those of us feeling lazy, or procrastinating from getting out and exercising!
Also this week, a deeper discussion on mind-chatter and how we as a society receive compliments. Reasons why we might down-play our strengths and deflect attention from ourselves. Have you ever stopped to consider how youchannel the compliments you receive?
On top of all this, talk of the MotoGP, how to get through a workout when your head begs you to quit...and answers to listener questions en masse.

The Grandstanders Podcast - 1st October 2011
It's Grandstanders installment number 14 million and 62 (if you believe Craig), on the biggest weekend in the sporting calendar. So of course, we talk the grand final (although this show went to air before Geelong's spectacular win!). Not only is it big here in Melbourne, but also around the country and even other parts of the world.
There was also another grand final last week - and Gary Ayres, coach of 2011 VFL premiers Port Melbourne, is our special guest this week. He's a former player too - with 5 premiership games and 2 Norm Smith medals under his belt - and joins us to share his thoughts and philosophies on coaching, learning, development and life in general. Plus whether he'd consider an AFL coaching role if a club came knocking...
Off the fast moving wheels of footy and the first week of the school holidays is over - much chagrin to many parents who often find themselves playing kids' entertainer. But Jane has found the first week very relaxing! Craig hasn't though: when a physiotherapist needed to play with his neck this week (either called a neck adjustment..... or neck cracking depending on your predisposition), Craig found it rather unpleasant. He's a self confessed 'neck-baby'. Or should that be neckcrackophobia?
What process does our processed orange juice go through before it gets to our shelves? You'll be suprised. And once you'll hear it... like Jane, you'll only want orange juice with visble pulp!
Jane's been on a retail therapy trip with mum... but with a difference: previously described as a "human pipe cleaner" by Craig, Jane is one of the only women in Australia who actually wants to fit into a bigger size. Craig carefully masters the art of digging himself out of a near miss with a you-should-never-say-that-to-a-woman comment, but Jane dishes it out too today: sharing a birthday with today's guest, Craig just isn't ageing as gracefully!
And just when you thought you couldn't possibly fit anything else into a 40-minute podcast, we also talk depression in dogs (and how to diagnose it), plus office workstations and whether those new-fad 'standing workstations' really are a good idea. And Masterchef winner Julie Goodwin has hit out at the fat police - Craig weighs in to the debate.
Hear it all in this week's Grandstanders podcast - listen below, download, or subscribe on iTunes. Got a question for Craig and Jane on health and fitness? E-mail thegrandstanders@lightfm.com.au or send a message through Twitter - or text or phone them live during next Saturday's show, from 8-10am on 89.9 LightFM.
"You should never place any restrictions on how good you can or can't be - and never be satisfied, because there's always a slightly better way of doing it." - today's guest, Gary Ayres
